The second and third thoughts are related I think. I'm not sure what you mean by unnecessary, but personal tests are important for figuring out who you are. And wanting to be someone else, to me, is having learned something about yourself and wanting it to be different. So I think, the more time you spend testing yourself, the more information you have to help mold yourself into who you want to be until, hopefully, you don't ever want to be anyone except for yourself.
